Horsehead Nebula
The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) is a dark dust cloud silhouetted against a curtain of glowing hydrogen. In Orion, about 1,400 light-years away, it is part of the large complex where stars are still being born. Its familiar shape is a chance of perspective: the dust blocks the light behind it.
